Fitting 37s on the 4th Gen Tacoma

We have had our 4th Gen Tacoma for a little over a year now and for most of the time we have been running 35" tires on our Tacoma build. The 35" tires have been great on the truck and fitting the tires wasn't as difficult as it has been in the past with only minor trimming needed to clear the 35s on the 4th Gen Tacoma.

After running the 35s and enjoying the performance and the look of them we have now decided to upgrade to a 37" tire to upgrade the look of our 4th Gen Tacoma build.

Along with the tires we also have added an all new ReadyLift suspension kit to our 4th Gen build so not only will we have a new larger tire but a more capable suspension set up as well.

Wheel Offset

With new tires we decided to also change the wheel setup on our 4th Gen. We swapped out the Nomad Sahara that came in a -10 offset for Black Rhino Primms with a 0 offset. The 4th Gen Tacoma sits a lot wider than the previous Tacoma generations did so even with a 0 offset wheel this truck still pokes out from the fenders slightly. The main reason a 0 offset tire was better than the -10 in this situation was because it meant we didn't have to clear as much room to make this tires fit from lock to lock.

Trimming

The most difficult thing we had to do to clear 37s on our 4th Gen Tacoma is a lot of trimming. To fully clear the 37s we had to do a viper cut on the front bumper as well as trimming the rest of the fender flair by 2 inches all the way around. Surprisingly we didn't have to do any modifications to the rear of the wheel well like you would have to on previous Tacoma generations.

We also had to trim the rear fender flairs 2 inches to clear the tires when they are stuffed into the wheel well but after we got all the trimming done we can now fully clear 37s on the 4th Gen Tacoma.

Final Thoughts

The 4th Gen Tacoma has made it easier than ever to jump to a bigger tire size. 35s have become the new 33s for these trucks and 37s the new 35s. Since we have had our 4th Gen Tacoma 35s I have always thought that was the go to tire for this new platform but after seeing this truck on 37s my mind has changed and if you have the ability to 37s are a must do upgrade to these trucks.
