GapShield Tailgate Gap Cover

4 reviews

Keep loose material out of your trucks' tailgate gap with this simple and effective solution. Great for anyone that hauls dirt, mulch, or any sort of yard debris in the bed of their pickup. The GapShield is an engineered 6.5"x60" or 6.5"x40" profile extrusion of durable synthetic elastomer that bridges the gap between your truck bed and tailgate, preventing material from spilling out.

GapShield Tailgate Gap Cover

Super easy install and quick to put on. Did some trimming and did it in some cold weather. Took a hair dryer to warm up the 3M tape on the backside as well pressed down for 5 mins. Its definitely not coming off and protects your tailgate!

Gapshield for the

It was great! At first, I had a mini concern about the shipping tracking number as I was never provided one on time but Tacoma lifestyle came in clutch and provided me it. It also arrived in a week, not bad. The gapshield works however, there’s still some gravel that gets underneath but it’s no big deal, very minor compared to if i didn’t have the gapshield. It’s better than nothing and before.

This is great and I’m so glad I found this product. I’ve used it a bunch for hauling stone and wood chips in my 2019 Tacoma. It saves the hassle of having to either remove the debris that wedges in and scratches everything up, or having to take of the tailgate to unload. As a bonus, it blocks the glaring light from shining up from the tailgate lightbar LED strip I installed under the tailgate. One thing to be aware of is that it makes it harder for water to drain out of the tailgate rear. I have steel bed stiffeners that are starting to corrode from puddling. The bed is composite so that’s not a problem. I may drill some new drain holes in my bed, like in the front of the bed. Currently water drains out of the corners where I left small gaps at the ends of the GapShield, but the water has to drain under/past the bed stiffeners. Would be perfect without my bed stiffeners, which is probably most people. Just keep an eye on your drainage situation when installing. Every mod makes compromises to OEM setups. Overall still awesome and has been very durable. Highly recommend!
